Have the same issue even though I have the New CCCP. I can’t really play the whole file because my comp is a bit slow. However I see the video distortion after remuxing the file to m2ts for PS3.

Just a quick question. Are the subtitles for the opening and ending hard-coded because I can’t disable them like I can with the actual episodes.
I enjoy watching OPs without subs and so I was just wondering if that was the case.

Not sure if this is the right place to mention this but the MD5 file is incorrect for the Episode 18 torrent, it’s checking for a different filename than it should be.

Thanks for the new episodes! The typesetting in the OP and ED are a lot better than the first set. The OP1 typesetting didn’t quite fit in and the text wasn’t even centered properly. Glad to see that you guys have improved your quality. =]

.md5 file is for verifying the file integrity and .nfo is just an informational file you can open in a text editor. You can do without them.

Everything else works fine, the picture is smooth, and the subs come out right when they say it. It only delays a little bit when the song appears. Is that really a cpu problem?

Hmm, after researching for a bit, I finally fixed everything. It turns out the default h.264 decoder in CCCP isn’t very up to par as compared to coreAVC. After installing it, all my BluRay videos work perfectly. I decided to test the coreAVC’s potential on Gundam 00 episode 18 and my previous problem of out-of-sync 6 seconds remained on that episode. Then I enabled the filter for subpicture pre-buffering and it fixed that problem as well. If anyone wants to test the performance of their PC, I recommend you to try it out on Gundam 00 Episode 18, specifically, the 6 seconds from 02:38 – 02:44.
I can’t imagine what kind of a monster PC is required to play that 100% smoothly without coreAVC and with just an average h.264 decoder. The rest of the Gundam 00 episodes seems to have an average bitrate of 300-500 kb/s, but those 6 seconds have an average of 3000-3000 kb/s lol. If your PC can play those 6 seconds perfectly with only the default h.264 decoder from CCCP, post your computer specs here. I want to compare some data.

Everything runs runs smoothly for me. If your computer has trouble running any 1080p content then its time to update. You can probably build a computer capable of running 1080p for about $400.
Try using ffdshow build by clsid and media player classic home cinema. Stay away from CCCP. You will also need VSFilter to properly display subtitles. Download the VSFilter.dll and activate it in MPC under “external filters”.
Under “internal filters” in MPC make sure that you uncheck H264(both) and that ffdshow is set to play H264.
Also installing halii media splitter will help.
Try this. If it still doesn’t work then its time for a new computer.
I long for the day when thora completely stops releasing 720p for it is not HD by today’s standards.

You have your bitrate peaks wrong. It’s 25000 in that scene, and that isn’t much _at all_. The Freedom OP1 peaks at 80 mbit, and there are others who go to 40-50.
A c2d 2.66 ghz can play all of these just fine with coreavc or divxh264 decoder.
And turning prebuffering on for subs is strongly not recommended, since all the signs in our releases are soft, and they will get totally messed up.

@Shenks: It actually has an opening but a technique called “ordered chapters” is used. This makes it possible to store the (ever repeating) opening(s) in separate files to save space. Thus you need an up-to-date player and the appropriate opening (and ending) to properly watch the file. Episode 18 uses the second opening which is distributed in the episode 14′s torrent and also via the IRC bots.

I use MCP – HC that came with the latest version of CCCP and it does the job for the most part. I think being that it is a free utility it does the job quite admirably. The one thing I am a bi interested in is the fact that when I play 1080p videos, the CPU usage is at around 30%. I have a QX 9650 oclocked to 3.4 ghz and 1600 Mhz FSB. I am wondering if I snag me a copy of CoreAVC if that means it will drop my CPU usage even more or not by offloading more work to the video cards.
I think from what I understand, the CPU and video cards are to work in tandem right to get these 1080p videos to render properly…is that a correct statement or is it codec dependent? I mean video cards have more than enough power than CPUs nowadays especially in decoding video streams and stuff. Also my video cards are 2 x 8800 Ultras in SLI but I dont know if SLI makes any difference when playing back videos…

Download the OP2 file (can be found in the EP14.torrent) and place it in the same folder as your anime episodes. Now when you play your anime episodes, the opening theme will play (they need to be in the same folder).
The same goes for OP1 for earlier episodes and the ED.

@shinso: creditless ed2 file is available. they didn’t use ordered chapters for ed2 because the music fades over from the end of the episodes to ed 2 and that would cause problems.

I am actually using that… and with the piece of junk I have now (Pentium M 1.60GHz, 2GB RAM), it’s definitely not enough. I even have problems running 720p if I don’t use CoreAVC. And I don’t have enough space for 1080p stuff either.

with CoreAVC.
If I watch it on my laptop’s screen it play really fine.
But it choke up when play through HDMI port on 1980×1080 HDTV.
I guess my GPU is not powerful enough to display full-hd.

Do you guys have the dub audio tracks for Gundam 00 and Code Geass? If you do, do you plan to upload them? I got versions of these shows that are encoded using the English Blu-Rays as source material. Overall, I like the way your videos are set up and ripping the dub audio tracks out of those videos and muxing and timing them with your releases seems like too much of a hassle.
Are you using the Japanese Blu-Rays or the English ones as your source material? If you’re using the Japanese ones, I guess that would answer my first question. And is there a difference between these two kinds of Blu-Rays, quality wise? I noticed the volume is very high in the videos that were encoded using the English source as compared to the Blu-Rays that you release. I’m not good in these technical terms, so I’m not sure whether you guys intended for the volume to be lower or not.

I was just wondering, that’s all. A simple answer would have sufficed. I thought they were English Blu-Rays since it had the English audio track as well, but I guess I was wrong. Thanks for clearing that up for me. As for the volume, like I said, I wasn’t sure exactly how it works, that’s why I was asking. That’s how people learn, right? Through mistakes and by knowledgeable people telling them what their mistakes are. Don’t get me wrong, I love your work, but when your fans are asking you questions or about how some of the technical things work, try not to be too hostile to them ;P

I like having choices. Most of the time I don’t even listen to the dubs even on my dual audio anime, but when I have friends over or when I feel like listening to English, it is nice to know you have the option to switch between languages.

1. dont play this with WMP 11. It doesnt link the opening and ending right.
2. if you want this to play on your ps3 you need to convert it to AVCHD. but Because the openings and endings are linked files, they dont play. And ass is currently the only format that useses more complex subs. (the special fonts and colors)
So i think you need to request the ASS sub and copy the text to srt or something.
PS: if you have DL DVD’s you can put the wole season on 5 DL dvds with the original bitrate. witch means 5 episodes on 1 DL DVD

It’s been a while since THORA released this batch of episodes. I don’t think THORA will release a 720p version. Besides, this anime is epic and deserves the full 1080p quality.
If your computer can’t handle it, either buy the actual BluRays and watch it on TV or just get a better computer.
