Dont want to sound ungrateful or anything but is there any reason for not having a 1080p release? Is it because the 720p and the 1080p releases do not have much visual difference since they are bluray releases? Stupid question probably but curious minds want to know

The raws available on TT are mostly HDTV caps (upscaled form 720p) and a few encoded from the BD. There are no BD images, and re-encoding the re-encodes is generally a bad idea.

Why is it every release is spammed with requests for 1080p (if not included) or 720p (if not included)? Seems silly to mention this over and over. Why not just except that THORA is releasing the best possible rips they can. All signs point to this being true. I have seen a marked increase in the quality of their work. I trust their judgment and am thankful to enjoy their great work

Speaking of quality I had some of the Eclipse releases of the show and I am quite amazed that visually there is almost no difference between the bluray and their version which presumably they captured streams! Just thought that was amazing. But the sound is much better in the bluray version of course.

Thank you a lot for this show. I think this was the biggest surprise for me this season. I didn’t start watching until a few weeks ago, and I was saddened that there wasn’t any higher quality. Now I’m no longer saddened. Thanks Thora!
Also, if anyone would care to answer this: I use WMP and mplayer with haali media splitter and ffdshow, but for some reason, the karaoke is not working. It is half one color and half another. Do I have my decoder improperly calibrated, and if so… how do I fix it?

Since I have another release farther ahead I checked several episodes. They change the start time of the OP in several eps. 6 & 7 are around :29 sec. 10 is close to 1:10 and 13 was around :42 sec. I guess it’s staggered. It may affect the ED also so I guess the chapter timing needs to be adjusted each time or at least checked.

Couldn’t find the BD raws so I assume those were DVD only.

You guys did a really great job with the encodes (as usual), and I appreciate that; but why do you always use such plain hardsubs? I’d much prefer that all your releases have softsubs in the first place, but if you’re gonna hardsub, could you at least put some effort into it? Alternatively, a raw torrent without any subs would work too. I hope I don’t sound too bitchy, I really do love your work.

No, it doesn’t configure itself automatically.
Make sure you uncheck h264 in the settings “FFDShow Video Decoders” in CCCP settings if your using CoreAVC

Flawless encode with no watermark inserts, warnings, messages, etc associated with an airing station or broadcast. Better color saturation, contrast, and sharpness. 320kbps sound quality or better, sometimes with 5.1 or higher sound encode. Extras included that were never aired. Impressed yet? If not, you will be with the file sizes. =P

@xkianloongx, If the source had been 1080i, then riping it @ 1080p would have been just a waste of time and bandwidth and I think this IS the case here or else adenozin would have done a 1080p rip himself. The bitrate of Thora’s 720p rip is high enough to make it safe to say it looks close enough to the source, a 1080p rip wouldn’t have made that much difference (if any) while it could have had twice the size.
And yeah, I doubt this series had been animated @ 1080p in the first place so the source is most probably an upscale from 720p. In fact most of the current anime BD releases are like this, it’s just that some are upscaled properly, some are not.
